Getting Started

Get Hermetiq running on your Mac in just a few minutes. This guide covers downloading, installing, and creating your first clinical note.

System Requirements

Hermetiq requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1/M2/M3/M4) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with at least 16 GB of RAM. The AI models require approximately 10 GB of disk space.

Download & Install

1

Download Hermetiq

Download the latest version of Hermetiq from our website. The download is a standard macOS .dmg file.

Download Hermetiq
2

Install the app

Open the .dmg file and drag Hermetiq to your Applications folder.

Double-click to launch. macOS may ask you to confirm since the app was downloaded from the internet.

3

Download AI models

On first launch, Hermetiq will download the AI models needed for transcription and note generation. This is a one-time download of approximately 10 GB.

The download happens in the background. You can start using Hermetiq once it completes.

Offline after setup

Once the models are downloaded, Hermetiq works completely offline. No internet connection is required for transcription or note generation.

Your First Session

1

Add a client

Click the + button in the sidebar to create a new client. Enter their name and any notes you want to keep.

Client data is stored locally on your Mac and never leaves your device.

2

Create a session

With a client selected, click New Session. You can either upload a recording or paste notes directly.

  • Upload audio: Voice Memos, Zoom recordings, dictaphone files. Any audio format works
  • Paste notes: If you have rough session notes, paste them directly
3

Generate your note

Choose your output format (SOAP, DAP, BIRP, Progress Note, etc.) and click Generate.

Hermetiq will transcribe the audio (if provided) and generate a structured clinical note. The entire process runs locally on your Mac.

4

Review and export

Review the generated note. You can edit any section before exporting.

  • Copy to clipboard: Paste directly into your EHR
  • Export as PDF: Save a formatted document

Always review

Hermetiq drafts documentation to save you time, but you should always review the output before saving to the chart. Clinical judgment remains yours.

Permissions

Microphone (optional)

If you want to record sessions directly in Hermetiq, you'll need to grant microphone access. This is optional; you can also import audio files recorded elsewhere.

File Access

Hermetiq needs permission to access files you select for import (audio recordings). It only accesses files you explicitly choose.
